Par’des: Peshat – Literal. Remez – Allegorical. Derush - hermeneutical or homiletical. Sod – mystical

Learning the Torah on all four levels of its understanding. The literal Peshat; Rashi, Even Ezra, Rashbam and understanding how to decode the words and structural pattern of the Torah. To the Remez of the Baal Ha’Turim. Derush, the Midrash Rabbah, the Kli Yakar and Or Hachayim. Sod, Zohar. Turning the teachings inward by applying the classic texts of Chassidus.

Magal Hashanah

The yearly cycle

Learning the Bnei Yissaschar and parts of Sefer Yetzira to understand the Magal Hashana –the cycle of time, the different seasons and the energies of each month.

 

Tefilah

Exploring the basic dynamics of prayer. From the sources in Torah, Talmud to Halacha, Philosophy and Kabbalah, to the later teachings of Chassidus.

 

Siddur

Exploring the Siddur/ the Jewish Prayer book: Discovering the origins, meanings, and structure of the daily prayers. With Spiritual Commentary, Meditations and Kabbalistic Interpretations. The Nusach Ha'tefilah. And the particular Kavanas –intensions of the prayers.

 

Chassidus

Exploring the major texts of Chassidic teachings. From the early teachings, such as from the Baal Shem Tov, Maggid, Toldas, Moer Anayim, Kedushas Levi, Likutie Ma’haran, Ohev Yisrael, to the later teachings of the, Mei Shiluach, Beis Yakkov, Beer M’shmuel, and Reb Tzadok.

 

Chabad

In depth study into the major works of the seven Chabad rebbe’s, from the Alter rebbe’s Tanya, Or Hatorah, Likutei Torah, to the present Rebbe’s Likutei Sichos and Maamorim Melukat

Meaning of Mitzvos

Exploring the reasons for Mitzvos, the Jewish practice of ethics and ritual, from the early period, the rational codifiers, such as the Rambam and the Chinuch, to the more mystical aspects of the Ramban, Rabbeinu Bachya, Rikanti. To the later commentaries, such as Radbaz, Arizal, R. Hirsch, and Chassidus.
